Our lovely waitress at O Cafe in Paraty told us about a beautiful beach just 20 km outside town, called Trindade. We drove up a steep hill, through rain, back down the windy roads, and emerged to find the sun shining on the dramatic, bouldered beaches of Trindade, against a backdrop of fog-covered mountains. The town is filled with hippie tourists and enough campsites, pousadas and restaurants to house and feed them, but we could see very little economic impact from this tourist industry. After the beach, we sat outside a restaurant – Amendoiras, delicious and ridiculously cheap – watching the town go by. We returned the next day for some more beach, food, and charm. I was inspired here to try some photography beyond the typical tourist “here is my boyfriend and i in front of a cool view” photos. So here is Trindade: its dramatic landscapes, people, animals, plants, food, adorable children running home from school, and a few random scenes. (Some of my favorites are below, followed by a more complete gallery.)
